A gorgeous lady with a great smile. Truly loved, and was loved, by her family and friends. Cups of tea. Yoga in her 90’s with her sister Sally. Rita leaves us rich in memories.Registered Nurse, school nurse at Cathedral School, Bishop Smith School yard supervisor and Valley Tire assistant manager.Peacefully at home on Saturday September 23, 2017, in her 99th year. Rita Woollam (nee Shea), beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) Woollam and by first marriage the late Stephen Whelan. Loved mother of Barbara Fortier (late Michael), Toronto, Thomas Woollam (Joan), Pembroke, Kathleen Whelan (late Malcolm McCuaig), Toronto, Sara Shannon and Paul Woollam both of Pembroke. Loving Granny Rita to Michael Fortier (Katherine), Flynn Fortier, Gregory Woollam (Tamara) and Angela Downey (Errol), Julie Beth Mansveld (Jeffrey) and the late Sabrina Shannon. Great grandmother of Quinn and John Downey, Anna, James and Thomas Mansveld, and Evan, Sean, Alexander and Josh Fortier and Makenna, Alexzandra and Karleigh Woollam, Lee and Jesse McCuaig. Godmother of Jennifer Southward and Helen Giroux. Dear sister of Sally Simpson (late Alan).Predeceased by her sisters, Sister Kathleen Shea CSJ , Maisie Shea and brothers Thomas Shea and Patrick Shea (late Joan) and parents Francis and Loretta (nee Roche) Shea. Sister-in-law of Peggy Shea and Therese Whelan (late Lorne). Sadly missed by all her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Colin McPherson, the CCAC, Marianhill Match Program all the nurses and PSWs for their care and support and also Sheila, Heather, Justine, Darlene and Gayle for their many years of special care. Friends are invited to share their memories of Rita with her family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday September 29, from 9;00 a.m. to 10:30 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 29, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke followed by cremation. Interment of ashes St. Columba’s Cemetery.
