James Thomas O'Kane

Jim (formerly of Pembroke) passed away peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veterans hospital on Thursday April 26, 2018, in his 93rd year. Beloved spouse of the late Rhoda Lance. Jim was the loving father of Dann (Helen), Tom (Peggy Belanger) and Lianne Brodeur (Robert). Proud grandfather of Nicholas Brodeur and step-grandfather of David Beaulieu (Naomi) and Simon Beaulieu (Margaret). Step-great grandfather to Eva, Simone, Audrey and Kathryn. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Bev) of Windsor, Ont. and brother-in-law Jack Higgins. Predeceased by his sister Mary Higgins. Jim was born in Renfrew, Ontario to the late John O'Kane and Cordelia Vincent. He served as a signalman on the HMS Murray Stewart during the second world war. Jim had a long career as a draftsman at AECL in Chalk River and enjoyed playing fiddle with a local group, The Silver Skates. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM June 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 280 Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke. A celebration of Jim's life will follow from noon until 2:30PM at the Royal Canadian Legion, 202 Pembroke Street. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Pembroke.
