Obituary for Sheila A. Skelley

Sheila A. Skelley
Sheila A. Skelley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 4, 2018 at Marianhill, Pembroke in her 88th year. Loving daughter of the late Dr. Albert J. Skelley and Irenice E. Lamothe (Skelley) (nee Murtagh). Dear sister of Judy Sims (late Bob), Toronto. Predeceased by her sister Mary O'Reilly (late Frank) and her brother John Skelley. She will be sadly missed by Renee Skelley and her many nieces and nephews (Shannon, Julia, Kevin, Catherine, John, and Matthew). Sheila was born in Ste. Anne de Beaupre, Que. and moved with her family to Pembroke during the depression. After graduating from the Convent of Mary Immaculate she spent a year at the University of Toronto before heading west where she began a long and adventurous career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She worked as Production Assistant (Public Affairs, Vancouver), Assistant BBC representative (Toronto), Program Organizer (Washington), Liaison Officer for foreign broadcasters (IBC -Expo 67) and Overseas and Foreign Relations Officer (Ottawa and London England). Her retirement years were spent enjoying family and friends at her cottage, 'Chateau sur le lac', on Golden Lake. She was an itinerant traveller and will be missed by her vast global network of friends. Special thanks to the staff at Marianhill for their loving care and compassion. Visitation will take place at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday, August 10th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Columbkille's Cathedral (Renfrew St.), Pembroke. Interment will take place in St. Columba's Cemetery, Pembroke at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to Marianhill, Friends of Rockingham Church, Youth Link Toronto or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online Donations and condolences may be made at
